Our little place, Danamay Farm, is nestled into a creek bottom here in Callaway County, Missouri. The ridge surrounding us provides a lovely green backdrop spring through summer, but when those autumn leaves change I'm often caught slack-jawed with gratitude that we get to call this place home. Our farm is host to honey bees, a native Missouri meadow in the making, a few critters, and lots of fruit.
In 2012, with the help of an amazing group of family and friends, we planted an acre of blueberries. Two years later we expanded by planting an acre of blackberries. In 2015 we opened for our first season of picking. During berry season, June - July, we love opening our farm for u-pick berries and sharing this space with others. It's a lot of work, but worth it all when juicy-faced kiddos (and adults) come out of the field with smiles.
This farm has a testimony all it's own, some of which is documented on our farm's blog. It's been amazing to see God's hand of grace and favor over this place. That being said, it's not been without challenges! Stepping out to make our berry farm a reality took courageous faith in a time of uncertainty. Honestly, there were multiple times when I told God, "This makes no sense. It's absolutely crazy." But living with the fruit of those choices and trusting steps has been crazy good. It's exciting to see how God continues to grow us, and the farm.
